Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information PRIKET handles, how it supports the marketplace, and the choices available to you.

Effective 25 August 2026

On this page

PRIKET uses personal information to provide and protect the marketplace. We do not sell personal information for money, and precise device location is requested only after you choose “Use My Current Location.”

1. Scope and Responsibility

This Privacy Policy applies when you visit PRIKET, create or use an account, publish or respond to a listing, use messaging or payment features, contact support, or otherwise interact with the marketplace.

PRIKET determines why and how personal information is used for these services. A third-party website or service linked from PRIKET has its own privacy practices, which you should review separately.

2. Information We Collect

The information collected depends on how you use PRIKET and may include:

  • Account and profile information: name, username, email address, phone number, password in protected form, profile photo, biography, marketplace location, seller or business details, shop address, website and communication preferences.
  • Listings and marketplace activity: listing titles, descriptions, prices, categories, item details, photos, locations, saved searches, favourites, follows and reviews.
  • Communications: messages, attachments, read and delivery information, reports, support requests and other communications sent through or about PRIKET.
  • Payments and transactions: bank codes, account numbers and names, virtual-account details, transaction and payout references, amounts, statuses, ledger records and payment-provider responses. Identity information such as a BVN entered during payment-account setup is transmitted securely to the payment provider for verification and is not stored by PRIKET. Payment providers may process additional information under their own privacy notices.
  • Safety and dispute information: explanations, photographs, receipts, screenshots and other evidence, moderation records, blocks, reports and actions taken to protect users or enforce platform rules.
  • Location and technical information: approximate location derived from your IP address, precise coordinates when you expressly request device location, selected marketplace location, IP address, browser or device information, session activity, timestamps and security logs.

3. How We Collect Information

We collect information you provide in forms, listings, profiles, messages, payment setup, disputes and support communications. We also collect information generated when you use marketplace features, such as favourites, search preferences, transaction states and account activity.

Some technical information is received automatically from your browser, device and network. Service providers may return information needed to complete a location lookup, verify a bank account, process a payment or deliver another requested service.

4. How We Use Information

  • Create and manage accounts, profiles, listings, stores and marketplace preferences.
  • Show relevant listings, apply location filters, rank search results and remember choices.
  • Enable messages, reviews, saved searches, favourites, follows and notifications.
  • Set up payment accounts, verify and reconcile payments, manage payouts, process Boost purchases and resolve Protected Payment disputes.
  • Prevent fraud and abuse, investigate reports, enforce platform rules, secure accounts and maintain audit records.
  • Respond to requests, maintain and improve service reliability, meet legal obligations and establish or defend legal claims.

6. Location Information and Choices

On a first visit, PRIKET may use your public IP address with an IP-location provider to estimate an approximate area and select a nearby marketplace. This does not trigger the browser’s location-permission prompt.

PRIKET asks the browser for precise device coordinates only when you select Use My Current Location. The coordinates are matched to the nearest PRIKET area. If permission is denied, a preference is saved so PRIKET does not repeatedly request it.

You may manually choose another area or All Nigeria at any time. That choice is remembered and takes priority over later automatic IP detection. You can also clear PRIKET cookies in your browser to remove the saved location preference.

7. What Other People Can See

Marketplace listings and seller pages are public. Depending on what you publish and your profile settings, other people may see your name or business name, username, profile photo, biography, listing photos and details, general listing or shop location, ratings, reviews and account activity intended for public display.

Your phone number may be visible to buyers where the relevant profile preference allows calls or phone display. Avoid placing sensitive information in public listing photos or descriptions.

Messages are visible to the conversation participants and may be reviewed by authorised PRIKET personnel where necessary for support, reports, disputes, fraud prevention or legal compliance. Dispute evidence is restricted to the parties involved and authorised administrators rather than exposed through a public file URL.

8. When We Share Information

PRIKET shares information only as reasonably needed for the marketplace, including with:

  • Other users, when information is public or needed for a conversation or transaction you choose to enter.
  • Service providers, including Flutterwave for payment, virtual-account, bank-verification and payout services; an IP-location provider for approximate location; and providers supporting hosting, storage, email, security and technical operations.
  • Authorities or other parties, where reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, investigate fraud, protect a person’s safety, enforce agreements or establish and defend legal rights.
  • A successor organisation, if PRIKET is involved in a merger, financing, reorganisation or transfer of all or part of the service, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal safeguards.

PRIKET does not sell personal information for money. Third parties process information under their own terms where they independently determine how a service is provided.

9. Cookies and Local Storage

PRIKET uses essential and preference technologies to keep sessions secure, remember sign-in where requested, protect forms, store your marketplace location and remember whether precise-location permission was denied. Location preferences may remain for up to one year unless you clear them.

PRIKET also uses local browser storage to remember interface choices such as the preferred layout for managing ads. Clearing browser storage may reset these choices but does not delete your PRIKET account.

The current PRIKET implementation does not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies. If that changes, this policy and any legally required choices will be updated.

10. How Long We Keep Information

PRIKET keeps personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here. The period depends on the type of information, whether your account remains active, an ongoing transaction or dispute, safety and fraud risks, backup cycles, and legal, tax, accounting or regulatory requirements.

You may delete your account through the profile controls. Account deletion removes information in accordance with the current deletion process, but some transaction, payment, dispute, moderation, security or audit records may need to be retained where permitted or required by law or to protect the rights of users.

Information that is no longer required is deleted or anonymised where reasonably practicable.

11. How We Protect Information

PRIKET uses technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect information, including password hashing, access controls, request validation, protected sessions, private storage for dispute evidence, payment verification and audit records for sensitive administrative actions.

No internet service or storage system can guarantee absolute security. You should use a strong, unique password, keep verification information private and contact support promptly if you suspect unauthorised account activity.

12. Children’s Privacy

PRIKET is intended for people who can lawfully enter the marketplace agreement or use it with any authorisation required by applicable law. We do not knowingly seek personal information from a child who is not authorised to use the service.

If you believe a child has provided personal information without the required authorisation, contact PRIKET so the circumstances can be reviewed and appropriate action taken.

13. Your Privacy Rights

Subject to applicable law and relevant exceptions, you may have the right to be informed about processing; request access to or a copy of your personal information; correct inaccurate information; request deletion or restriction; object to processing; withdraw consent; request portability; and complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

You may update common profile details or delete your account through the profile controls. For another privacy request, email support with enough information to identify your account and the request. PRIKET may need to verify your identity and protect information belonging to another person before responding.

PRIKET uses automated calculations to rank marketplace results and match location coordinates to an area. The current service is not intended to make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you. If such processing is introduced, PRIKET will provide the information and rights required by law.

14. International Data Transfers

Some service providers may process information outside Nigeria. Where personal information is transferred internationally, PRIKET will use a lawful transfer basis and reasonable safeguards required by applicable data-protection law.

15. Changes to This Policy

PRIKET may update this Privacy Policy when services, technology, legal requirements or data practices change. The revised policy will show its effective date. Where a change is material, PRIKET will provide reasonable notice through the service or another appropriate channel.

16. Contact and Complaints

For questions, requests or concerns about personal information, contact PRIKET support in Lagos, Nigeria. You also have the right to make a complaint to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
